MyLife 24-7 is a project created and funded by the Josephson Institute, a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the ethical quality of society by changing personal and organizational decision making and behavior.
MyLife 24-7 is a website created for and by teens. At MyLife 24-7, we believe that you are ultimately in charge of your choices and actions. Our “Good For You” movement helps everyone embrace their inner-leader by inspiring, educating, and empowering young people to make choices guided by good sense and good values. The MyLife 24-7 community serves young people committed to building a better world, together, through good choices and actions.
MyLife 24-7 is a website designed to provide resources and build a network of youth committed to leadership and service. MyLife 24-7 has the following online security measures to ensure the safety and privacy of every MyLife 24-7 user.
The following statement will outline our term of use agreement and privacy policies. This statement may change and be updated from time to time. Therefore, we encourage every user to review the terms of use agreement and privacy policies from time to time.
User Agreement:
Eligibility
Everyone is welcome to visit the site to review resources, read articles, and watch our posted media. However, our online community is intended for youth 13 and over. We will not keep on record personally identifiable information from anyone under 13 without explicit parental/guardian consent.
Anyone who visits MyLife 24-7 will be referred to as the “User” and MyLife 24-7 will be referred to as the “Site.” Whenever someone requests to join our online community (via the MyLife 24-7 Assembly or Ambassador Leadership Network) we collect birth dates of all Users to verify the age of our guests. If the User is younger than 13 the User will be asked for simply his/her: First Name, Date of Birth, Email Address, and Parent/Guardian’s email address. We will then notify the parents through the email address provided letting them know that their child has requested to join the MyLife 24-7 network. The parent/guardian will have 48 hours to respond via email to refuse their child permission to join the MyLife 24-7 network. If older than 13, the User will complete the standard membership request (for Assembly: email address, city, First Name, Last Initial and for Ambassadors: email address, city, First Name, Last Initial and phone).
All personally identifiable information from our registration process will remain private. We will not sell or disclose your personally identifiable information to any third party organizations that are not associated with MyLife 24-7 or the Josephson Institute unless it is necessary to comply with legal requirements, protect the safety of our users, or enforce the Terms of Agreement. We may use information to send mailings or email newsletters, which Users may opt-out-of receiving. Should anyone ever express interest in interviewing or contacting a MyLife User, we will never give out any information without explicit written consent.
We will never ask you for your mailing address, unless you are the recipient of a prize or award that must be mailed to your address, in which case you will be required to fill out a written authorization form.
Updating Your Personal Information
It is your responsibility to update us with your new email address or your parent/guardian’s email address. Failure to do so may mean that important notices or updates do not go to your current email address. We are not responsible if you do not receive important information because you failed to update your email account.
Please notify MyLife 24-7 with any updates to your email address and your parent/guardian’s email address and, if applicable (only for Ambassadors), your phone number. Email mylife24-7@jiethics.org with “UPDATE PROFILE” as the subject of your email.
User Generated Content (UGC)
You are entirely responsible and liable for all of your activities on MyLife 24-7. The views, opinions, beliefs, and comments represented in MyLife 24-7 do not reflect those of MyLife 24-7 and or the Josephson Institute. We are a non-partisan, non-profit organization and our purpose is not to espouse particular ideas, but rather to generate conversations. We do not support or promote any political, social, or religious agenda.
We expect our Users to be respectful, tolerant, and kind to other Users on the Site. Any comment that may be taken as rude, insulting, or harassing in nature may be grounds for termination of your access to the Site. MyLife 24-7 staff will have sole discretion in determining to warn or delete a User’s affiliation to the Site.
All User Generated Content should meet the following requirements:
- DO: Explore topics that the User cares about
- DO: Encourage open, honest, and RESPECTFUL conversations
- DO: Share opinions or news coverage relevant to other Users
By using this Site, you agree to the following:
- DO NOT: Use profanity, inappropriate or disrespectful language
- DO NOT: Post, transmit, promote, or distribute content that is illegal or not yours to post
- DO NOT: Harass, threaten, embarrass, or do anything else to another member that is unwanted. This means: insulting them, repeatedly sending them unwanted messages, attacking their race, heritage, gender, sexual preference, etc
- DO NOT: Transmit or facilitate distribution of content that is libelous, harmful, threatening, harassing, abusive, racially or ethnically offensive, vulgar, sexually explicit, obscene, defamatory, or objectionable in a reasonable person's view
- DO NOT: Use vulgar or abusive language, or engage in other conduct that may disrupt normal activities on the site
- DO NOT: Pretend to be anyone whom you are not. You may not impersonate another member, a MyLife24-7.org staff member, or anyone else
- DO NOT: Attempt to get a password, other account information, or other private information from a member, or harvest e-mail addresses or other information.
- DO NOT: Post any unsolicited advertising, promotional materials, or any other forms of solicitation.
Failure to agree to these terms may result in limited access to or suspension from the Site.
All User Generated Content (UGC) that is posted, displayed, or uploaded by you to the Site, such as images, text, and video is your responsibility. MyLife 24-7 cannot be held responsible for user-generated content. You are using the Site at your own risk. We are not responsible for any objectionable material you may encounter while using the Site. All Users are responsible for participating in moderating the site as well. If inappropriate content or comments are ever posted to the site, Users have the responsibility of informing MyLife 24-7 staff.
MyLife 24-7 reserves the right to remove, edit, and/or moderate content at any time, including any content that violates these standards.
MyLife 24-7 owns the rights to all images, logos, and design seen throughout the MyLife 24-7 site. By publishing, displaying, or uploading any Content onto the Site, you automatically grant, and you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant to MyLife 24-7 an irrevocable, non-exclusive, perpetual, fully-paid and worldwide license to use, copy, perform, publicly display, and distribute such content and to prepare derivative works of, or incorporate into other works, such Content and to grant and authorize sublicenses of the Content. Users may reprint their articles and submissions, but should include the following preface “This article/image/video originally appeared on MyLife24-7.org.”
In the case that a User appears to be in danger (either from themselves or someone else) the User will be referred to a list of MyLife 24-7 pre-approved service providers.
Copyright Complaints
All users are bound by applicable local laws, including laws regarding pornography and copyright. It is up to individual users to determine for what purposes use of the Web Site would be illicit and illegal in his/her jurisdiction.
We respect the intellectual property of others, and we ask our users to do the same. We may, in appropriate circumstances and at its discretion, disable and/or terminate the accounts of users who may be repeat infringers. If you believe that your work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, or your intellectual property rights have been otherwise violated, please provide us with the following information:
- an electronic or physical signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the copyright or other intellectual property interest;
- a description of the copyrighted work or other intellectual property that you claim has been infringed;
- a description of where the material that you claim is infringing is located on the site;
- your address, telephone number, and email address;
- a statement by you that you have a good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;

This site is subject to California privacy laws, even though the site does not share its User’s personally identifiable information with third parties for direct marketing.
